Most of us treat our cars or clothes better than we treat our hearts. If you have one, you probably take your vehicle for regular services, I’m sure you wash and iron your outfits, but how often do you take time to repair the wear and tear of your soul? Your heart matters. Here are five reasons why:
1. YOUR DESTINY
Proverbs 4:23 says: “…Your heart… determines the course of your life.” It’s not what I know or even who I know, and it’s not my qualifications that decide my destiny. It’s the condition of my heart. Issues like self-consciousness, insecurity, discouragement and disappointment limit our ability to live the life God intended.
2. LIFE IS TOUGH
We all go through difficulties & disappointments & get hurt along the way. People let us down making it tough to trust. Our dreams may get dashed leaving us heavy-hearted. But because we love the Lord, we normally just dust ourselves down and carry on, perhaps with a little sadness beneath the surface. When your heart is weighed down, you slow down.
3. YOUR POTENTIAL
God is great and you were made in His image. So He has an extraordinary plan for your life. But Proverbs says that, “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” If your confidence has been crushed by pain or failure, or if your view of yourself has been damaged by the things you have gone through, it will affect what you think in your heart. When your heart is hurt, it is hard to fulfill your potential.
4. THE ENEMY HAS A PLAN
God has a great plan for your life but the devil has a plan too. John 10:10 says that satan seeks to steal, kill and destroy. He tries to derail your destiny by using your hurts to hamper your life. It’s vital to stop him by dealing with hidden hurts that are holding you back.
5. OUR HEARTS TELL LIES
Jeremiah 17:9 says that one of God’s greatest concerns about our hearts is our propensity for self-deception: “The heart is deceitful above all things…” Just as the heart is capable of love and compassion, the heart is also a master of deceit. We think we know ourselves. We think we know what is going on inside. However, more often than not, we don’t. We are unaware that old experiences are holding us back and affecting the way we live life.

1. SU DESTINO
Proverbios 4:23 dice: “Sobre toda cosa guardada, guarda tu corazón; Porque de él mana la vida.” Su corazón determina el curso de su vida. No es lo que sé o incluso a quién conozco, y no son mis calificaciones las que deciden mi destino. Es la condición de mi corazón. Cuestiones como la timidez, la inseguridad, el desánimo y la decepción limitan nuestra capacidad de vivir la vida que Dios desea.
2. LA VIDA ES DURA
Todos pasamos por dificultades y decepciones y nos lastimamos en el camino. La gente nos defrauda, por lo que es difícil confiar. Nuestros sueños pueden verse frustrados, dejándonos con el corazón apesadumbrado. Pero debido a que amamos al Señor, normalmente nos quitamos el polvo y seguimos adelante, tal vez con un poco de tristeza debajo de la superficie. Cuando su corazón está agobiado, usted disminuye la velocidad.
3. SU POTENCIAL
Dios es grande y usted fue hecho a su imagen. Así que Él tiene un plan extraordinario para su vida. Pero Proverbios dice que “cual es el pensamiento de un hombre en su corazón, tal es él”. Si su confianza ha sido aplastada por el dolor o el fracaso, o si su visión de si mismo ha sido dañada por las cosas por las que ha pasado, afectará lo que usted piensa en su corazón. Cuando su corazón está herido, es difícil realizar su potencial.
4. EL ENEMIGO TIENE UN PLAN PARA SU DOLOR
Dios tiene un gran plan para su vida, pero el diablo también tiene un plan. Juan 10:10 dice que satanás busca robar, matar y destruir. Él trata de descarrilar su destino, usando sus heridas para obstaculizar su vida. Es vital detenerlo. Y eso puede lograrse lidiando con las heridas ocultas que lo están frenando.
5. EL CORAZÓN DICE MENTIRAS
Jeremías 17:9 dice que una de las mayores preocupaciones de Dios acerca de nuestros corazones es nuestra propensión al autoengaño: “Engañoso es el corazón más que todas las cosas…” Así como el corazón es capaz de amar y compadecerse, el corazón también es un maestro del engaño. Creemos que nos conocemos a nosotros mismos. Creemos que sabemos lo que está pasando dentro de nuestro corazón. Sin embargo, la mayoría de las veces, no es así. No estamos conscientes de que las viejas experiencias nos están frenando y afectando la forma en que vivimos la vida.
UN SERVICIO DE MANTENIMIENTO PARA EL ALMA
Así como un vehículo necesita servicios de mantenimiento regulares, su alma necesita tiempos de restauración y refrigerio. Por favor, pídale al Señor que sane su corazón por el bien de su futuro.
