The Big Confidence Crusher | La Gran Trituradora De Confianza

Numbers tells the tragic story of how an entire generation missed God’s promises. Israel’s best leaders were chosen to explore the land that God had pledged to His people. These could not have been novices; they must have been mature and experienced men. I would imagine that Moses picked them for their bravery and spirituality.

Twelve men went to the Promised Land to get a feel for the terrain so that they could help plan the conquest. Instead of focusing on the mission and the size of their God, ten of these leaders compared themselves with the local people. They felt inadequate and told their countrymen that they could not conquer Canaan. The Israelites believed these ten leaders and sealed their fate in the desert.

Numbers 13:31-33 says, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.’ And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, ‘…all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature. There we saw the giants …and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.’”

Are Your Listening To Fake News?

The ten presumed that the residents were better warriors. Comparison pushes us to make assumptions. It will tell you that other people are stronger, smarter, or more successful than they really are. It will exaggerate the gifts and talents of others and it will minimize your qualities. It broadcasts fake news. When you listen to the whispers of comparison, you are listening to lies. The descending spiral into self-loathing can be crushing.

If the devil can get you to focus on the people around you, he knows he can feed you fake news. And this false information is designed to cause doubt and discouragement. It is intended to squash your confidence. The men of Israel probably went out full of faith. But once they focused on the abilities of the competition, their courage evaporated and fear entered their hearts.

Maybe you were planning to apply for a job. However, when you heard about the other candidate’s experience, you doubted your ability and withdrew your application. Perhaps you were in a wonderful relationship but worried that you weren’t good enough. You built walls around your heart to avoid being hurt and ended up sabotaging your own happiness.

The Thing About Confidence

Comparison opens the door to doubt and discouragement, and it crushes confidence. To thrive in the midst of life’s ups and downs and to fulfill your potential, you need confidence. One of the most significant words I received was spoken over me at Bible College: “You’re too small! You’re too small in your own eyes.” I can still hear those words like it was yesterday. I didn’t believe in myself, and until I did, many of God’s plans were put on hold.

Lack of confidence usually looks inwardly at your inadequacy. However, the Creator of heaven and earth is with you. He not only loves you, He believes in you. He has confidence in you even when you lack confidence in yourself. Where others have dismissed you out of hand, He gives you His vote.

Where others have doubted your worth, He has faith in you. When you put your trust in Him, He will not allow you to be put to shame. He will protect you. Joshua 1:5 (MSG) says, “I’ll be with you. I won’t give up on you; I won’t leave you.” You have the Lord Of All on your side.

If you lack confidence, God wants to build you up so you can fulfil your purpose. This blog is taken from my new book Destiny Blockers. This could be my most important book yet. If you’re in the UK or US, get your copies here.

Eres demasiado pequeña a tus propios ojos.”

Josué 1:5 (MSG) dice: “Yo estaré contigo. no me rendiré contigo; No te dejaré.
