WHY AM I LIKE THIS? |  PORQUE SOY ASÍ?

Elisha’s first miracle after parting the Jordan helped an entire city.  The rulers of a region came to him and said, “Please notice, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the ground barren.” 2 Kings 2:19 

Stop for a moment and think about this. The town was set in stunning surroundings. It seemed to have everything going for it. On the outside all looked well and yet there was a problem beneath the surface. 

NOT WHAT IT SEEMS 

That is often our story. To the outside world, our lives look good. Perhaps you are successful by most people’s standards. Maybe your marriage or family looks like a bed of roses. You may appear to have it all together.  But beneath the surface there is another story of strain or sadness. 

The temptation when we are struggling is to try to sort the symptoms. We are feeling wounded so we try to move on. We can’t handle family friction so we stay late at the office. We feel under-valued so we strive for success to prove our worth. We feel insecure so we seek reassurance. 

THE ROOT

Elisha refused to be distracted by the symptoms. He did not look at the barren ground or the polluted rivers. 2 Kings 2:21 says: “He went out to the source of the water, cast in the salt there, and said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘I have healed this water; from it there shall be no more death or barrenness.”

I was chatting to the leaders of our marriage ministry a while back. After years of counselling, they believe that 90% of marriage problems are rooted in the unhealed hurts. They affect our outlook & beliefs. We end up seeing the words and actions of our loved ones through a damaged lens. 

YOUR SOURCE

Why not ask God to go to the source of your issues? When we allow Him to deal with the roots of our problems, we don’t have to continually tackle bitter fruit. When we allow the Lord to go the cause of our turmoil, we won’t be constantly struggling with symptoms. 

Let’s look at the prayer that Rebecca prayed in Genesis. She was pregnant but something didn’t feel right. We don’t know whether she was in pain or just churning. However, she prayed a monumental prayer:

“If all is well, why am I like this?” Genesis 25:22. God answered and showed her the root of her inner turmoil: she was carrying twins! If you pray that prayer, you will be amazed what God will expose. 

RECOGNIZING SYMPTOMS 

Perhaps you are afraid of speaking publicly. Maybe you constantly compare yourself with others. You could have a sadness beneath the surface or be struggling in your relationships. Whatever the issue, ask God, “If all is well, then why am I like this?” He will reveal the root & heal your heart.

El primer milagro de Elíseo después de partir el rio en dos, bendijo a toda una ciudad. Los que estaban al mando en la región le dijeron, “Y los hombres de la ciudad dijeron a Eliseo: He aquí, el lugar en donde está colocada esta ciudad es bueno, como mi señor ve; mas las aguas son malas, y la tierra es estéril.”

Detente un momento y piensa en esto. El pueblo está rodeado de circunstancias sin precedente. Parecía que tenían todo lo que necesitaban. En la superficie todo se veía bien pero en lo profundo había problemas. 

NO ES LO QUE PARECE

Lo que es en muchos casos nuestra historia. Para todos afuera, estamos bien. Quizás eres exitoso/a a los estándares de los demás. Tu matrimonio y familia lucen con una cama de pétalos de rosas. Parece que lo tienes todo bajo control. Pero debajo de la superficie, hay una historia de tristeza y presión. 

 La tentación eso que en medio del problema tratamos a los síntomas. Estamos heridos pero seguimos adelante. No podemos lidiar con la fricción familiar, por eso nos quedamos tarde en la oficina. Nos sentimos poco valorados y por eso tratamos de alcanzar éxito a toda costa, para probar nuestra valía. Nos sentimos inseguros por eso buscamos afirmación. 

LA RAÍZ

Elíseo rehusó ser distraído por los síntomas.El no miro la tierra estéril o las aguas contaminadas. 2 Reyes2:21 dice “Y saliendo él a los manantiales de las aguas, echó dentro la sal,” y dijo: “Así ha dicho Jehová: Yo sané estas aguas, y no habrá más en ellas muerte ni enfermedad.”

Hablaba con nuestros líderes del ministerio de matrimonio hace un tiempo atrás. Ellos creen que el 90% de los problemas matrimoniales están arraigados en las heridas no sanadas. Esto afecta nuestro panorama y creencias. Terminamos viendo las acciones y palabras de nuestros seres queridos con lentes empañados.

TU ORIGEN

Porque no pedirle al Señor que vaya al origen  del problema? Cuando le permitimos a El que trate la raíz del problema, dejaremos de pelear con las pequeñas raíces de amargura. Cuando le permitimos al Señor que vaya a la raíz de la tormenta, dejaremos de enfrentar constantemente solo síntomas.

Miremos la oración que Rebeca hizo en Genesis. Ella estaba embarazada pero algo no se sentía bien. No sabemos si sentía dolor o simplemente agitación. Sin embargo, ella oró una oración monumental. 

“Si todo está bien, porque me siento así?” Gen 25:22. Dios contestó y reveló la raíz de su tormento interior: ella estaba embarazada de gemelos. Si haces esa oración te sorprenderás lo que Dios te mostrará. 

RECONOCIENDO SÍNTOMAS 

Quizá le temas hablar en público. Tal ves te comparas constantemente con otros. Pueda que tengas una tristeza oculta debajo de la superficie o tienes por las con tus relaciones. Cualquier sea el problema, pregúntale a Dios. “Si todo está bien, porque me siento así?” El mostrará la raíz y sanará tu corazón. 

La sanidad del corazón no se da en un solo encuentro, es un viaje. Tenemos  dos eventos nuevos que te ayudarán.
