Have you ever felt certain that something special was about to happen and then… nothing. Maybe you were believing that your breakthrough was imminent but then the “cloud the size of a man’s hand” drifted back out to sea?
Too many times to mention, I have been sure that my suddenly was upon me. I believed that I was about to see a turnaround but then precious little happened.
What do you do with those moments? How do you deal with the disappointment? How do you avoid plunging into discouragement? And how do you get back into faith so that you can see your promise come to pass?
1. POUR IT OUT
I love how honest the psalmists were with the Lord. They told Him exactly how they felt and then found their way back into faith.
Asaph wrote 12 psalms. He was close to King David and had a similar openness of heart in prayer. He went through a terrible trial and was awfully disappointed.
We can learn from how he dealt with it in prayer. First, he had it out with the Lord! He vented his frustrations to his Heavenly Father:
“Will the Lord cast off forever? And will He be favorable no more? Has His mercy ceased forever? Has His promise failed forevermore? Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has He in anger shut up His tender mercies? And I said, “This is my anguish…” Psalms 77:7-10
He told God how he really felt and poured out his disappointment. If you’re feeling let down, let the Lord know. He can handle your inner anguish so pour out your pain in His presence.
2. PICK YOURSELF UP
Once Asaph had given his grievance to God, he was ready to encourage himself again:
“But I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High. I will remember the works of the Lord; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old. I will also meditate on all Your work, And talk of Your deeds.” Psalms 77:10b-12
He chose to remember God’s goodness. He deliberately looked back at the faithfulness of the Lord. He reminded himself what a wonderful God we serve.
Truly, God is good! I encourage you to join Asaph and focus afresh on His faithfulness. Remember all the great things that He has done for you in the past. He never changes. What He has done before, He will do again.
3. BELIEVE AGAIN
By the time Asaph has finished thinking about the blessings of God, He is encouraged and ready to believe again. He is rejoicing and his heart is happy: “Who is so great a God as our God?” Psalms 77:13b
There is great power in pouring out your pain. However, you can’t stop there. Once you have told God how you feel, I encourage you to turn your heart to praise. Praise confounds the enemy and pleases God. Not only that, it is an important key to lasting breakthrough.

Demasiadas veces para poderlo mencionar, cuando yo sentía que de repente estaba sobre mí. Yo creí que todo iba a cambiar y que algo precioso iba a suceder.
Qué haces con esos momentos? Cómo manejas la decepción? Cómo evitar caer en el desánimo?
1. Viértelo
Yo amo la honestidad de los Salmistas con el señor. Le decían exactamente cómo se sentían y después encontraba su camino de regreso a la fe.
Asaf escribió 12 salmos. Él era muy cercano al rey David y tenía la mismo capacidad de abrir su corazón en oración como él. El pasó por diferentes tribulaciones terribles y por terribles decepciones.
Cuando él aprendió cómo manejar todo en oración. Primero, él lo dejaba todo delante de la presencia del señor! Él sacaba toda su frustración delante de su padre celestial:
“¿Desechará el Señor para siempre, Y no volverá más a sernos propicio? ¿Ha cesado para siempre su misericordia? ¿Se ha acabado perpetuamente su promesa? ¿Ha olvidado Dios el tener misericordia? ¿Ha encerrado con ira sus piedades? Selah Dije: Enfermedad mía es esta; Traeré, pues, a la memoria los años de la diestra del Altísimo.”

Le dijo al señor como realmente se sentía y vertió toda la decepción. Si te sientes bajo, y que el señor te ha soltado, déjale saber a él. Él puede manejar toda esa angustia interna así que vierte todo tu dolor en su presencia.
2. Levántate.
Una vez que entregó todo su dolor al señor, él estaba listo para animarse asimismo una vez más:
“Dije: … Traeré, pues, a la memoria los años de la diestra del Altísimo. Me acordaré de las obras de JAH; Sí, haré yo memoria de tus maravillas antiguas. Meditaré en todas tus obras, Y hablaré de tus hechos.”

Decidió ver la bondad de Dios. De manera determinada él miró hacia atrás para ver la fidelidad del señor. Él se recordó asimismo lo maravilloso que es servir al señor.
Verdaderamente, Dios es bueno! Y hoy te animo a que te unas a Asaf enfoques en la fresca fidelidad. Recuerda que todas las cosas grandes que él ha hecho para ti en el pasado. El nunca cambia. Lo que él ha hecho antes, lo puede hacer otra vez.
3. Otra vez.
Para el tiempo en Que Asaf había terminado de pensar en todas las bendiciones de Dios. Él se había animado y estaba listo para creer otra vez. Él se regocijo y su corazón estaba feliz: “Oh Dios, santo es tu camino; ¿Qué dios es grande como nuestro Dios?”

Hay poder en vertir todo tu dolor. Aunque, no tienes que parar ahí. Una vez que le has dicho al señor cómo te sientes, te animo a que tu corazón alabe. La alabanza confunde al enemigo y agrada a Dios. No sólo eso, es una llave importante para rompimientos duraderos.
