The Heart Condition That Blocks God’s Favor | EL PROBLEMA DEL CORAZÓN QUE BLOQUEA EL FAVOR DE DIOS

By 13th July 2022 Uncategorised

The Lord’s love is unconditional, never ending and unchanging. It motivated God to send His only Son to die so that you could enjoy life. God loves you, and nothing you could do could make Him love you any less, (or even any more).

Grace, on the other hand, is conditional. Hebrews 12:15a says, “looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God…” There is a heart issue that can cause us to fall short of God’s grace.

The Greek for grace means favor. The Bible teaches that we can attract God’s favor.  Luke 2:52 says, “Jesus increased… in favor with God and men.” Jesus enjoyed more favor with God as an adult than He did as a young man.

A Heart Issue To Guard Against

You and I can also increase the measure of God’s favor we enjoy through our obedience and faithfulness (see Genesis 6:8). However, just as we can increase in favor by pleasing the Lord, we can also repel God’s favor.

Hebrews 12:15 says, “looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled.”

This reveals a heart issue that can cut us off from God’s best. The dictionary definition of bitterness is intense antagonism or hostility, a feeling of anger or unhappiness as a result of mistreatment. In Bible Greek, it means poison.

Unwittingly Hurting Others

Bitterness hinders our access to God’s favor, causes trouble and it defiles others (Heb 12:15). So it can harm us as well as our nearest and dearest. Because it is a root, it also causes us to get stuck. Lasting progress becomes hard.

When I hold unforgiveness, it hurts me. When bitterness takes root in my heart, it harms me, but it also defiles the people around me. If I don’t deal with every root of bitterness in my heart, I can hurt those I love the most.

Defilement is foul. To defile means to stain, contaminate, soil or pollute. It is probably most often associated with sexual abuse, but here the Bible says that if someone associates with me when I’m bitter, they will be defiled.

Don’t Let The Devil Keep You Down

No wonder the devil will do everything he can to keep us upset with the people who have hurt us. He wants to hold us back and spoil our lives. I encourage you to get into the presence of God. Ask Him to reveal any bitterness hiding inside.

If you realise you feel antagonistic towards someone who wronged you, tell the Lord what happened. Ask Him to heal your heart, and then let go of every ounce of anger. Forgive, tell the Lord that they owe you nothing. Let go.

Y suelta.
