THE TRUST TEST

By 10th May 2019 May 29th, 2019 Uncategorised

The enemy is always fighting your faith. He does everything he can to make you afraid. The devil wants you to doubt God because he knows that your faith is your key to your promises.

So what do we do when we wobble? What do we do when doubt creeps in? What do we do when fear tries to intimidate?

DEALING WITH DOUBT & FEAR?

Psalm 56:3 says, “Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.” The dictionary definition of trust is reliance on the integrity, strength, ability or surety of a person; it is confidence in someone.

We trust a person when we know them. We trust someone because they are reliable and able. God because is our strong tower. He is faithful. He is able and He is our loving Heavenly Father.

YOUR GAZE

Faith is about a promise. Trust is about a Person. When we trust, we take our eyes off the challenge (even just temporarily) and we fix our eyes on Jesus.

Proverbs 3:5 (AMPC) says, “Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.”

When you are afraid, remember the faithfulness and goodness of God. When doubt tries to creep in, remind yourself that God is well able. Here are 3 keys:

1. DON’T DO IT YOURSELF

Proverbs 3:5 warns us not to rely on our own insight or understanding. The temptation in the middle of trials is to try to figure out the answers. Psalm 44:6 says, “I will not trust in my bow, Nor shall my sword save me.”

2. DON’T PHONE A FRIEND (UNTIL AFTER YOU CALLED GOD)

One of the ways we know we are growing up spiritually is when we pray first and share second. Micah 7:5 says, “Do not trust in a friend; do not put your confidence in a companion.” We need each other, but we must first turn to God.

3. DON’T LISTEN TO THE LIAR

The devil is always whispering worrying lies in your ears. Jeremiah 7:4 says, “Do not trust in these lying words…” Speak back to the enemy’s threats. Remind yourself and your enemy that he is a liar and that God is faithful.

Once you have your eyes firmly back on Christ, you will soon start to sense your peace returning. After lingering in the presence of the Lord for a while, you will experience His wonderful reassurance.

PICK UP YOUR PROMISE

Trust is the perfect place to get back your faith. Once you are at peace, pick up the promises of God again and fight the good fight of faith! Next time you wobble, you will know what to do. I think trust is a test we need to pass.
